Because each time a patient makes a purchase through the end of the campaign, they’ll have the option to minimally round up their purchase to the nearest dollar in order to make a donation.
The REEF Believes in Giving Back
And we ain’t just whistlin’ Dixie.
The REEF Provisioning Center is located at 6640 East 8 Mile Road in Detroit and has always emphasized the importance of giving back to the community. That means both the physical neighborhood they call home, as well as the community at large.
And they have a rich history of supporting charities such as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
“We are committed to giving back to the community and trying to help in our own small way to cure these dreaded diseases,” says Operations and Business Development Consultant, Rush Hasan. “We hope to raise an additional $25,000 on top of the initial $15,000.”
How the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Helps
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society strives to improve the quality of life for patients and their families who live with the challenges of Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s Disease and Myeloma. They hope some day to find cures for these diseases.
The Man & Woman of the Year event through LLS is a fundraising “competition” that takes place throughout the United States. Local fundraisers try to raise the most money become the Man or Woman of the Year, and the funds raised are used for research to advance targeted therapies and immunotherapies that currently save thousands of lives.
Man & Woman of the Year candidates dedicate themselves for a 10-week period to raise as much money as possible to find cures for blood cancers, while ensuring that patients have access to lifesaving treatments.
Then on May 4th, the Man and Woman of the Year candidates will join sponsors and survivors for an evening of dinner, dancing and entertainment at Ford Field. The man and woman who raised the most funds during the campaign will be awarded the prestigious title of Man or Woman of the Year.
But, without sounding too cliché, it’s safe to say that the true winners are the nearly 1.5 million people living with or in remission from blood cancers who stand to benefit from this event.
