Remember when the marijuana scene used to be a lot simpler?
You were pretty much consuming Panama Red or Maui Wowie – maybe some Malawi Gold.
Yeah, there were some other landrace strains. But nothing like what we’ve got today.
So with the overwhelming number of strains now, how does one go about picking the coolest marijuana strains for 2020?
Some were chosen for their steadfast popularity. Others because they’re brand spanking new.
Whatever the case, if you fancy yourself an adventurous type, here are some strains to look out for this year.
-
Peanut Butter Breath
Straight outta Michigan, Thug Pug Genetics lays claim to Peanut Butter Breath. But they sell seeds too so it’s loose in the wild.
PB Breath is a variant on Mendo Breath, and this dank and deliciously nutty-smelling strain is looking to have a great year in 2020.
A word of warning (or enticement) however. PB Breath is considered the double black diamond of strains.
As the folks at The REEF in Detroit can tell you, it’s only for high-tolerance THC consumers.
-
Bubba Kush
Bubba Kush has been around a while and it’s just plain likable.
It’s an Indica-dominant strain with serious tranquilizing effects. And with everything going on the world, tranquility would be a nice respite.
With Bubba Kush, you get some hashish flavor mixed with chocolate and coffee notes. It relaxes the body while lightening the mood.
Banjo
Banjo’s actually been around since 2018.
But citrus lovers are all about it. It’s kind of like a cross between Boost and Tangelo.
Unlike it’s unwieldy cousin PB Butter, it’s a good choice for legalization’s new wave of low-to-medium tolerance cannabis fans. It’s a refreshing option for mood alteration that still allows a level of functioning and creativity.
ACDC
ACDC takes it all the way to the other level.
This renowned CBD strain has a very high CBD profile and low THC profile. In fact, the ratio is 20:1. So yeah, there are none of the psychoactive effects that come from THC.
Because of the entourage effect of the THC, however, it’s a great option for people struggling with inflammation, anxiety, stress, insomnia, depression, and muscle spasms – but who don’t want to get “high.”
It’s sweet and spicy with hints of juicy fruits.
Vanilla Frosting
This strain was bred by a farm and then picked by a seed company from 10,000 plants over multiple generations in what’s known as a pheno-hunt.
Pheno hunting is essentially a search for the next legendary pheno-type and breeders are hoping this dessert indica with a novel vanilla finish is just that.
If you want to get a jump on this new breed, it’s available as seeds so you can grow your own.
Crystal Candy
This is an Indica-dominant strain that delivers a good balance of mind and body buzz. The effect is felt instantly by the brain though.
Although you’re likely to pick up on sweet tones of melon and strawberry, this strain lacks the excess sugar that comes from using candy.
Runtz
When Runtz was newly introduced in 2019, it gained almost instant popularity. It’s expected to keep this status for 2020.
This strain is a cross of Zkittlez and Gelato. That means it’s pretty sweet and sugary.
If you haven’t heard of Runtz yet, you’ll likely be hard-pressed to get through much of 2020 without hearing about it. (Let alone trying it.)
